Hush Puppies are the heart of American casual. First introduced in 1958 when a shoe salesman passed through Tennessee and was fed a delicious meal of catfish and hushpuppies. When the salesman asked how hushpuppies got their strange name, he was told it came from soldiers who tossed deep fried cornmeal to their barking dogs to quiet them down, or "Hush, puppies."
At the time "barking dogs" was another way to say aching feet. Since hushpuppies were seen as the way to cure your dogs from barking, the salesman's new line of soft suede shoes got their name. Today Hush Puppies apply their philosophy of fun, comfortable and genuine style to every shoe they make - from work to weekend. An American legend, Hush Puppies created the modern dress/casual style. As soft and as comfortable as ever, Hush Puppies are still the cure for your "barking dogs." With many different styles to choose from, enjoy our selection of Hush Puppies shoes.
Mom wide - daughter narrow from New York, NY on 2013-09-29
Feels true to size,
Feels true to width,
Bought 8 wide for me, 8.5 narrow for daughter. We both wear often because of cute style and ease of slip on and off. My daughter walks long distances in hers. I prefer shorter distances in these thin flats. Do not expect them to last long at the rate we wear them but are happy with them. I have a wide foot in front but not in the heel so some wide structured shoes are too wide in the back. These hug nicely.
I have a long really narrow foot and it is hard to find shoes that fit well. These are no different. I had to put insoles in them. The red lining inside the shoe fades on white socks. Plan to wear them with jeans and for walking. They will be alright with cool weather socks. A little stiff but will probably soften with wear.
