When the salesman asked how hushpuppies got their strange name, he was told it came from soldiers who tossed deep fried cornmeal to their barking dogs to quiet them down, or "Hush, puppies."

At the time "barking dogs" was another way to say aching feet. Since hushpuppies were seen as the way to cure your dogs from barking, the salesman's new line of soft suede shoes got their name. These shoes are practical for walking and the heel height is great for this purpose. They look smart too, not trendy, just comfortable walking shoes. Knocking around shoes that look good.

These are the most comfortable shoes I've bought for years. From day one they have worn well, and been appropriate for everything from around town and to work as well as travel. If I could make the heal height about 1/2 inch taller they would be perfect for special occasions as well.
